Davie feels roomy and a little offbeat for Broward County. A normal weekday usually starts with school drop-offs, campus traffic around Nova Southeastern University and the other colleges, and plenty of cars heading to nearby jobs in the western suburbs or up toward Fort Lauderdale. You see riders on horse trails, people walking dogs around bigger neighborhoods, and plenty of students mixing with longtime residents. It is not a dense, late-night place; most activity is around errands, campus life, parks, and backyard gatherings. Weekends often mean parks, youth sports, ranch-style properties, or heading out for a beach day or a bigger shopping run. The overall pace is suburban, green, and fairly spread out.

Davie works well for young families, people who like bigger lots, and anyone who wants a suburban base with more open space than most of Broward. It also suits horse owners, equestrian hobbyists, and college-connected households who want to be near Nova Southeastern University and other schools. Remote workers can be comfortable here if they do not need a walkable urban scene. It is a weaker fit if you want to live car-light, be in the middle of nightlife, or have a compact neighborhood where daily errands are on foot.

You will want a car here. Davie is spread out, and most daily life happens by driving rather than walking. The main road network includes I-595, I-75, the Florida's Turnpike, and nearby access to I-95 and US-1 for reaching the rest of Broward and Miami-Dade. Rush hour can be slow on the major corridors, especially when people are moving between western suburbs and the coast. Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood Intl is about 15 minutes away by car, and downtown Fort Lauderdale is about 20 minutes, which makes airport and city access reasonably easy compared with many suburban areas.

The grocery routine is straightforward suburban South Florida. Most people use Publix as the default for weekly shopping, with other chain options depending on where you are in town. For bigger stock-up trips, warehouse clubs and larger supermarkets are usually a short drive away, and you can also find specialty or Latin markets in the broader area. Expect to drive for most errands rather than bundling everything into one walkable strip. A standard grocery run is usually part of a broader errand loop, not a quick stroll from home.

Davie’s best local appeal is outdoorsy and campus-adjacent. Tree Tops Park is a major draw for trails and open space, and the equestrian character shows up in ranches and horse trails around town. Nova Southeastern University brings a steady stream of events, students, and visiting families. For bigger weekend plans, you are close enough to reach downtown Fort Lauderdale for dining and the beach scene, with Fort Lauderdale Beach about 26 minutes away by car. Sawgrass Mills, about 16 minutes by car, is another easy option when you want shopping, movies, or a rainy-day outing.

The tradeoff for the extra space is that Davie is not especially walkable, so most routines require driving. Summer heat and humidity are part of everyday life, and outdoor plans can feel limited in the hottest months. Because you are in South Florida, insurance costs, storm preparation, and flood-risk awareness are part of homeownership and even renting in some cases. Traffic can also stack up around school areas, university zones, and regional roads during peak hours. If you want an urban apartment life or easy transit-first living, this probably will feel too spread out.
